Tips for talking through the puzzles
Bring two copies and two working microphones. One person describes, one person operates. The negative reviews I read on 22 October keep saying the in-game hints are thin, so the call itself is the hint system.
What I checked
I pulled the five habits from the beginner notes on the community wiki and checked them against the official microphone article. The habits are advice. The microphone requirement is a store fact.
Five habits that survive a reset
These do not depend on a code that might change next session.
- Describe shapes: two bars over a circle, not the letter you think it is.
- Name positions: left of the door, at waist height.
- Say what changed: a new light, a hum, a door, an indicator.
- Swap the describer after about ten minutes, not the puzzle.
- One person touches the console. Do not work two panels at once.
Five-step rescue
When the room stops making sense, stop touching it. Describe it again from scratch. Swap who talks. Check that both tools are still in the right hands. Walk back to the last checkpoint. Only then open a puzzle page on this site.
If voice drops, the official article says to confirm the default microphone, invite instead of using the room finder, and avoid an Xbox party chat at the same time as the in-game walkie-talkie.
Questions
Do we both need microphones?
Yes. Steam's PC requirements list a working microphone, and the support article treats voice as required.
Is there a hint button?
Players say the built-in hints are easy to miss. I am not claiming a difficulty menu I have not seen documented.
What if we get motion sick?
Reviews mention nausea in the gravity rooms. I have not found an official comfort setting, so I will not invent one.
